assignments&.... more?

My life is filled with assignments right now. Its not like high school where i never have homework. I have tried doing some of them but they're really hard. You cant summarize them if not they'll say that you "PLAGIARIZE" so you have to PARAPHRASE them which is quite hard for me because i have never really done "paraphrasing" at all. So, there i found my weak point and the worst part is in Uni, you have to paraphrase EVERYTHING. That sucks!

This weekend, i am alone. So, therefore i'm working on my assignments and paraphrasing. I kinda did one half way last night so this afternoon i'm continuing where i left off. Let's just hope i won't be carried away by all the "TVSHOWS" in my lap top! OH, i shall finish at least one and a half assignments before i go out tonight!

Next friday i have HOLIDAY due to good friday, if you're christian you SHOULD know what that is. If not, GO hang yourself or something. SO long weekend holiday next week YAY!

My new life

I'm feeling very hardworking today, so i shall post a blog. A sneak preview of my new life.

BUT, when salleh was wasted i showed him my hair. He was like "i like your old hair better!" SO INSULTING! I "terasa" and then the next day when he was wide awake he was like "EH, you cut your hair, and i was like? yea, YOU SAID you didnt like it when you were wasted. Then he say. "yea really i like your old hair better"

See, people tell the truth when they are drunk/stone-d hahaha. If i didnt tell him he said he didnt like my hair the day before he wouldnt say anything! Ah silly bro..

CONFUSE-D

I'm confused with the weeks, DAMN! In highschool, we dont count by weeks, we count by terms so yea this week thing is so like NEW to me. I have to do a presentation on the 8th week, i'm not so sure what date is it but i think its in April. SEE? CONFUSED! My Media teacher himself is confused. Now can you think of ANY reason at all why i shouldn't BE confused? =)

Meet the friends

My weekend was pretty interesting. I still can’t believe that its already the start of the 4th week and I’ve been staying here for 5 weeks. This is how fast time flies, we have a one week break during the 8th studying week and this semester there is only fourteen studying week.

Ok, I can see I’m confusing a lot of people with the week talk so I shall shut up and just tell you how my weekend was. I went clubbing and party last Friday, it was one hardcore party and it was definitely my first time attending a house party like this. On Saturday and Sunday I had a break and a good rest, all I did was sleep and played midnight basketball with Mei vun.

Anyways, time to show you pictures of some friends I met here, didn’t manage to capture them all.

Dilah- She's one of the friends in campus. She's cool and yea! =)
Salleh- He’s my brother. He’s my short brother. He's very old but he's very SHORT! =) He takes really good care of me when we go clubbing or whatever and he’s really musically talented! He rocks! HAHA abang Salleh

Stacy-The only word I can think of is “crazy” , always hyper. HAHA

Mei Vun-Also crazy. When you put her and Stacy in the same room. It never stops. I play basketball with her, midnight basketball sometimes with abby’s bunch of friends. I know we’re a crazy bunch! PLUS she's very lame!

Belinda- Meet my artist friend. We got really close cos we’re in the same tutor group and also yea she’s really cool! We’re one crazy gang!

Those are the few people that I captured, obviously I have met more people. Don’t get me started on abby’s bunch of friends. Oh and my assignments are coming in by the day. I’m getting so stress being new and stuff with all these. Like, HELLO its just my 4th week in uni ok? Like chill for a while! I see the degree students and I really pity them, they have so many assignments. I know I’m going to be one of those next year, hopefully in Australia. I’m loving uni life actually, it feels so much like high school but even better, in uni I lepak more and yea I go to classes at the most random-est hour and I have really long classes like 2 hours or even longer, classes are such a drag.

I’m so glad I have Belinda and Abby in my group. They’re like in my Moral, History and Critical Thinking group. How awesome? Belinda is like the most awesome artist ever (yea, if you see this IT IS A COMPLIMENT!) haha.

Here is some group stuff we did during Moral and History tutorial. The first poster is something to do with Morality. It’s a poster that shows to keep the world clean. There was this guy in our group he was being so practical. We chose a topic like “keep the world clean” and he was like “you should draw a field and people picking up rubbish” I wanted to bang my head on the wall when he said that as in PHYSICALLY BANG!

This next poster here is done during history tutorial. We’re suppose to draw up a poster like how to convince people to join the army. We must have a suitable punch line and a suitable picture. So here’s what out creative Belinda came up with! =) You rock babes!

Start of 4th week

For the past few weeks, lots have happened. I can actually cancel out alot from my to-do list! =) Anyways, lets NOT talk about my social life.

About my school life:
Well since this is the start of the 3rd week of my school life but i've been staying here for 4 weeks, lots of assignments are coming in. I'm learning more and more stuff everyday. Some days are just packed with classes and some days its just so empty that it gets bored! Its tiring.

I shall show you my timetable;

FOUNDATION IN MEDIA STUDIES

Monday:
10-1130 History Tutorial, 12-130 Moral studies Tutorial, 130-330 Critical Reading and thinking and 4-630 Intro to Visual Culture Tutorial.

Tuesday:
130-230 Intro to Visual Culture Lecture and 5-630 Intro to Media and communication Lecture

Wednesday:
12-2 Critical Reading and Thinking skills

Thursday:
9-11 Intro to Media and Communication Tutorial, 1130-1 IT lecture and 3-5 critical reading and thinking skills

Friday
8-930 Moral studies Lecture, 2-4 IT Lab and 6-730 History Lecture

There goes my weekdays, as you can see some days my class goes on the whole day with like half hour breaks and sometimes no breaks at all. TIRING!!!

One thing i love about school, is that i've made lots of good friends who take good care of me. They're all so nice, its like as if they're my family! I've joined quite a number of clubs like Basketball club, Creative Inspiration and Curtin Music Society!

I've not been eating at the correct timing lately, i think i have gastric problems. As in I get so hungry but i cant eat so i'll try to forget about my hunger and eventually i wont be hungry again. Its bad i know but I DONT KNOW. Not that i'm on a diet or anything but there's just nothing i wanna eat on some days.

COLLEGE DORM LIFE

COLLEGE DORM LIFE

There’s both girls and boys dorm here in college. We shall go one by one and slowly stretch out and go detail into every single thing:

GIRLS – THE ROOM WITH THE AIR CONS!
(I’ll start with this, as I am one of them)

WE DON’T SOCIALIZE! We have air con, lap top, food and everything in our so why do we still need to go out to the common area and suffer under the fan. As said by the girls who have fans in their room, we HYBERNATE in our room. Well that’s true, I don’t get out of my room much if I can stay in I will, I’ll make people come to my room. We always go to the room with the coldest room and we’ll just sit there and talk till dawn or until one of us is sleepy and all of us will leave. Lets say, we do socialize but with our own kind. Common room is useless on the air con floor.

GIRLS – THE ROOM WITH THE FANS

They SOCIALIZE (not as much as the guys) but they do. During dinnertime they will hang in the common area and they will watch television, eat dinner and talk together. Bonding is what they do because bonding in the room is the same as bonding in the common area; they prefer to bond in the common area as it is more spacious. Common area is very much in use on the fan floor. People call them the NOISIEST floor!!!

BOYS – THE ROOM WITH THE AIR CONS

Air con or not they socialize like nobody’s business. Like as if they’re having a party they will ALL gather together at night and drink, smoke (do what guys do). They will just sit in the common room like as if they have nothing better to do and they just hang. When they meet for the first time, its like as if they’ve known each other for ages and they’ll just sit there and TALK TALK TALK TALK!

BOYS – ROOMS WITH THE FANS

If Boys – rooms with the air con socialize like nobody’s business. I think they do the same. I’ve never met anyone who stays on this floor. But I’m sure they BOND like nobody’s business too!


TIME MANAGEMENT is very important when you’re living in the hostel. You should know when to do what and separate your time properly. You should know when to do your laundry, when to tidy up your desk or make your bed. You also should know when to wake up or when to go to sleep. When you should study or when you can just hang out with your friend (the only time you’ll do that is the weekends or when you have no class the next day). In the hostel, you can go online 24 hours. Its free (comes with the rent) and its FAST.

Living in the hostel is awesome because everything is so near. You don’t have to wake up extra early or anything just to catch a bus or sit a long ride to school. When one class finishes, we can just go back to the room and wait till the next class starts but usually I’ll just sit with my tutor group and just wait till the next class starts, it gets boring but we talk about random topics one by one just to let time past quickly! During exam week, if we need to use the library we can just walk there and do our thing and walk back. Last minute assignments (not encouraged) we can sit in the library and stay as long as we want like nobody’s business and do our thing because we live so damn near!

Just one thing, hostel canteen food SUX! That’s one of the cons of living in the hostel. The other is living in the hostel is like being in a jail. All we can do is stay in the perimeter, to go out to the world we need to take the bus, which I am SO not use to! That’s the only form of transport in this hostel, campus. It’s a whole different story if you own a car. One thing is that we need to share toilet with the people that’s on the same floor as us and also fridge (getting my own soon ;)) its disgusting!

OVERALL, I love staying in the hostel. I LOVE COLLEGE DORM LIFE! Its great.


FYI- If you're wondering how i can do so much post at once, all i can tell you is THIS IS WHAT I DO DURING MY FREE TIME, without my internet!

I've been tagged by cassy to list my weirdo behaviours which i dont think i have any but here's what i got from brain storming, i know some of them is not weird but YOU KNOW it CAN be! hehe

My 6 weird behaviours:

I don’t really know my own weird behaviours, so I don’t know if these are consider as weird so here goes:

1) I get nervous easily. Either when I walk in through a crowded room or everyone is staring at me or when I have to talk in front of a lot of people. I either start biting my nails or pretend that I am messaging!

2) When I am taking a photo, I always smile with my eyes close (those who know me well enough you know I do that) Reason being, I don’t like flashes. I always blink when there’s flash so I close my eyes when I smile (no one knows the reason so here i'm telling the world why i smile with my eyes closed)

3) As you know I play the drums, it goes with my nervousness. But there’s another thing, my eyes will jump when I’m watching someone play the drums. I don’t know why it does that but its annoying.

4) When I go shopping and buy clothes or whatever, I always hold it in a way like as if I’m holding my books (i dont think its that weird, but haha you might?)

5) If a television is on but there’s no channel on the screen (as in the black screen), I will know it even if I’m not in that room. Eg, if I’m upstairs I can hear it from downstairs like as if its calling out to me or something.

6) During exams week, my room will be like a pigsty. Its way easier for me to find notes than a clean room. If my room is clean I’ll freak out because I wont be able to find ANYTHING!

DRESS TO IMPRESS

DRESS TO IMPRESS

My college life have been treating me well even though I’m not so use to the casual wear and attending classes at weird hours like classes being in the morning then at night! Its so odd. Everyone in college dresses to impress, I must admit I do that too. I try not to but I somehow end up dressing up!

Its like as if there’s fashion police around, if you don’t dress they will arrest you. I try to wear as casual as possible, a bit of nice-ness here and there, with my “don’t-care-whether-I-look-good attitude” and I walk to school. On my way, I will start thinking what if I see a Hot guy and he judges me by how I look or what if he doesn’t notice me because I am wearing like this.

Its like a fashion riot here, everyone is judge by how they wear their clothes. “Oh this girl is wearing jeans and tee shirt she must be gay, oh that girl is wearing so nice she must be here to impress someone or to hook up”. They even judge girls by what kind of bag they carry. Its not that you want to judge but they are THERE for you to judge. You try to look away, but they are THERE. Everyone is THERE! JUST THERE.

In high school, everyone wears uniform, so no one judges no one because we all look the same. In college, it’s a whole different story. Like this morning, I wanted to wear sports wear, I was so READY to wear sports wear and then I thought, maybe I should wear something different, something girl-ier maybe. SO I changed. But THANK GOD I’m not the type that changes a few times and settle in with one and also I’m not the make-up type. Few friends of mine wear make up before they leave their hostel to go for class. I’m like thinking, “IS IT NECCESARY?”

Here, guys are everywhere and they’re all very friendly and they all look new because you have never met any of them before. So it’s a good change, new change! You meet people from different countries, different cultures and different styles of dressing up! I also find myself hanging out with people whom I will totally ignore if I were to meet them in high school. Its different, ITS SO DIFFERENT! Well, I do hang out with people whom I will HANG with in high school.

THIS IS THE LIFE OF THE GIRL WHO JUST ENTERS COLLEGE. Up to now, its great but will this “great-ness” last? Will it be great forever with all these dressing up and stuff, or maybe during exam week girls will be in school without make-up or guys will be in school with gel-ess hair? That’s when people don’t DRESS TO IMPRESS that’s when all they care about is passing the semester and moving on to the next. I dress simple, I’ll dress simple for this semester!

Satisfactory!

Yesterday, i was out practically the WHOLE DAY! I had orientation night, the HIGHLIGHT of the orientation week. It was fun, we had beach games and i got wet, very, VERY WET! We get to throw the soar advisors into the water. I had so much fun!

Then night, we had dinner and we had to do our presentation. Ours was really good, not to BRAG or anything but all the comment we got was VERY GOOD! I was very proud of my group, i wished i could video it or something. My group won the BEST OVERALL so we got a BIG HAMPER! I was so shocked, i thought we didnt do so well overall. Congrats MALAYSIAN PIE!!

After night, I WENT CLUBBING!!! That is the SATISFACTORY, i can now cross it out of my TO-DO LIST! I DANCED and had ONE DRINK! It was fun i went with the soar advisors, well one of them asked me to go. Clubbing in Miri is not all that, but at least its still clubbing! I met a few more curtin seniors on the DANCE FLOOR! They're all really good dancers! Got back at 330am and went straight to bed after THAT LONG DAY!

MY NEW LIFE

WHAT DID I DO BEFORE I "LEFT" BRUNEI?

First off, I WOKE UP DAMN EARLY TO GO TO SUNDAY SCHOOL. After that, i had lunch with Lorene, Stephen and Janet. We ate at Ideal, my favourite restaurant in the whole of Brunei, well for now at least. In like mid-afternoon, i went hashing with the Ydmers. Main reason was to tone my bum (everyone has a bum, its God-given but your responsibility to keep it toned), the other reason was to say bye and just hang with the younger girls for the "last time".

WHAT DID I DO WHEN I REACHED CURTIN?

OF COURSE, I WAS VERY NERVOUS. Its like i've never been so nervous my whole life. I mean COME ON, its Uni dont play play. I didnt know anyone except for those SAS-ians. I met up with Bee after my enrollment and registration. We did nothing for ours. At night, we met up with Betty and she introduced to us a friend called Joyceanne. She's really nice and friendly. Eventhough its just few days its like as if i've known her for a long time. We hang out daily! Today, my roommate never turned up so i had to sleep alone, quite scary! In the afternoon my mum cleaned and prepared everything nicely for me (its what moms do best) After that she left, and she was really gone from my side! That really scared the hell out of me. But, i call her every single day like maybe 2-3 times just to tell her random stuff!

THE NEXT DAY-START OF THE ORIENTATION WEEK!


This is the one and only lecture hall where all my lecture is going to take place!

I couldnt sleep the first night, i woke up every 3 hours so the next morning I WENT JOGGING BY MYSELF!!! Today they placed us in groups and played some games but mostly was briefing about everything. It was pretty boring. I met a few people whom i cant remember(Now, after 4 days i can). Anyhows, Abby brought along a new friend her name is Grace, she's really nice too. SO altogether i made two good friends whom i hang out with everyday. We all went to parkson Grand and i had McDs

Note:I've never eaten Campus food, heard they were really bad!

As a freshman, they made us fill in lots and lots of form. Internet housing form, library form, internet form and etc. Got a bit bored writing my FULL NAME, STUDENT ID and IC NUMBER!

THE THIRD DAY- CONTINUATION OF ORIENTATION

In the morning, there was more talks by the respective people who are in charge of their department it was some boring but IMPORTANT stuff! TODAY MY ROOM MATE ARRIVED, she just flew in from Nanjing, China. She's quite nice I GUESS! At night, i hung with Joyceanne while waiting for our food from Abby, Grace and Ben. After the food came we just hung in Joyceanne's room laughing and LAUGHING ALOT. Joyceanne's bed broke into half HAHA. I was reading some problemed people's column in teenage magazine and they were giving feedback. Joyceanne gave some pretty funny feedback she was talking like as if i was the one that was with the problem and she's the "Doctor" from the magazine. SO SILLY!

THE FOURTH DAY- STILL ON-GOING ORIENTATION

Since the first day, my eyes is swollen, there's like a growth there. Today a SOAR ADVISOR noticed it and took me to the student service. They asked me if i wanted to go to the clinic i was like "er, its ok my dad's coming down tomorrow, he'll take me? i guess!"

Today's orientation was fun, we played a detective game. We had to interview like 5 suspects and each of them have their own ODD behaviour and you have to keep talking to them and try to understand who the killer is. It was fun but quite tough all of them acted crazy, emotinally disturbed and psycho! HAHA.

Joyceanne left to KK today for the weekend and here i am using it for the weekend!

I had like 2 meetings today, we have to come up with a trailer and present it on saturday, during orientation night! So we all cracked our head and at last thought of something. Hope it'll turn out good. I'll have more practise tomorrow. My dad is coming down tomorrow morning, to bring me and get a laptop and also drop off some stuff for me. YAY!

In conclusion, i'm settling quite nicely. Making friends at the right pace and all is WELL over here with me for those who is "worried" .
