My top 10 movies for the year of 2007

Top 1- STARDUST

This is the best movie I have watched so far. Introduced by Tracy, Daphne and my Brother. Claire Danes have always been one of the actresses i oh-so-like as well as Michelle Pfeiffer, she is one of the most brillant actresses in Hollywood. Altogether, the movie was awesome. Its a movie you won't get bored of it in the middle. Every minute of the film is interesting.
Synopsis: A charmingly naïve boy from the English village of Wall travels to a magical, mythical world in search of the falling star that will help him win the heart of his true love in this fantasy adventure starring Charlie Cox, Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ricky Gervais, and Sienna Miller. For hundreds of years the massive cobblestone barrier that surrounds the sleepy English hamlet of Wall has kept the citizens of the village safe and secure from the malevolent supernatural forces that stir just outside its perimeter. When dashing Tristan Thorne (Cox) promises the fairest girl in the village, Victoria (Miller), that he will prove his love by bestowing her with a genuine falling star, his daring mission sends him on an adventure far outside the comfortable confines of Wall. In order to find the fallen star, Tristan will have to ascend the wall and venture deep into the forbidden heart of the fantastical realm known as Stormhold. Upon discovering that the meteorite he sought was in fact a beautiful girl named Yvaine (Danes), who has stumbled though space and is now being pursued by the King of Stormhold's (Peter O'Toole) sons (who long to use her cosmic powers to lay claim to the throne), Tristan vows to protect the otherworldly visitor at all costs. But the king's sons aren't the only ones in search of the luminous Yvaine; fearsome witch Lamia (Pfeiffer) has become convinced that the young girl's power can help her to achieve eternal youth and beauty. As Tristan makes his way through Stormhold on a mission to bring the star back to Wall, he will encounter a series of spectacular characters and creatures that will lead him to a fate he never imagined. Top 2- TRANSFORMERS

Trannssforrmerrsss robotss in disguiseee... Everyone who watched this movie came out of the cinema smiling. The actions were incredibly awesome! Megan Fox was just an actress with small parts. "There are no small actresses just small parts" but yes, because of Transformers she became big and even MORE well-known.

Synopsis: The interstellar battle between the Autobots and Decepticons rains destruction down on planet Earth as director Michael Bay adapts Hasbro and Takara's popular Transformers franchise into a big-budget, live-action summer tentpole extravaganza in this ambitious sci-fi action feature starring Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Bernie Mac, John Turturro, Jon Voight, and, of course, Optimus Prime and Megatron. Long ago, on the planet of Cybertron, a massive, powerful alien race divided into two factions, the noble Autobots, and the devious Decepticons. They fought for the sole access to a talisman known as the Allspark, a cube with the capacity to grant infinite power, and eventually the Autobots smuggled it off the planet's surface, hiding it in an unknown location on Earth. Now, hundreds of years later, the Deceptacons have come looking for it, and if the Autobots don't find it first, the Earth will be enslaved or destroyed by the evil aliens' use of its massive power. The Autobots don't know where the cube was hidden, but the information may be stored in the most unlikely of sources, as a gangly young Earthling named Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) who's just picked up his first car, has a strange connection to the Allspark's history, making him the unlikely ally of these enormous creatures, as they fight for humankind's survival and the chance to return home. Top 3- GOOD LUCK CHUCK

Good luck Chuck is all about the comedy. It's so funny that at some parts you just can't stop laughing. Jessica Alba was as always VERY VERY HOT! What if there was a guy who could help you find your true love and all you had to do was sleep with him? Thats what good luck chuck is all about.

Perhaps with a little help from smooth talking ladies' man and sympathetic best friend Stu (Dan Fogler), Charlie will finally be able to experience true happiness. Click here to read more.

Top 4-SHANGHAI KISS

Hayden Panettiere was very good in this film. The story was also very good. Its a Chinese-American film and I really like it because it reflects myself. Well, I'm not American Chinese but I am Bruneian/Malaysian Chinese and thats almost the same because we are Chinese NOT living in China. Funny and smart all at the same time.

Synopsis: A struggling Los Angeles actor who has never fully grasped his Chinese roots takes an eye-opening journey to Shanghai after inheriting his grandmother's home in this romantic comedy starring X-Men: The Last Stand's Ken Leung and Heroes's cheerleader Hayden Panettiere. Liam (Leung) is an aspiring Hollywood star who spends the majority of time picking up bar girls with his best friend Joe -- a starving writer who has yet to pen a proper screenplay. While Liam does share an innocent relationship with precocious 16-year-old Adelaide (Panettiere), she often comes off as more mature than he and the age difference between the pair is far too glaring to ignore. Upon receiving notice that he has inherited his grandmother's home in Shanghai, Liam throws caution to the wind and purchases an airplane ticket. Shortly after landing in China, Liam becomes smitten with beautiful local Micky (Kelly Hu) and gradually learns to embrace his Eastern roots. But it's difficult to exist comfortably between two cultures -- much less two women -- and before long Liam finds that in connecting with the past, he is simultaneously laying the groundwork for his future. Top 5- THE ULTIMATE GIFT

This is one of the most touching story of the year. It makes you laugh and cry at the same time. Its a movie full of meaning and life. The actors and actresses are wonderful. I think everyone should watch it. Its definately a worth watching film.

Synopsis: Filmmaker Michael O. Sajbel explores the relationship between wealth and happiness with this spiritual-minded tale about a privileged young man who receives a most unexpected inheritance. Adapted from the best-selling book by author Jim Stovall, The Ultimate Gift opens as trust-fund baby Jason Stevens (Drew Fuller) prepares to receive a sizable inheritance from his late grandfather Red (James Garner). Though Jason is convinced that the money is about to come flowing in, he receives a sudden shock upon discovering that Red has instead decided to offer him something much more valuable than simple cash. Realizing that his spoiled grandson has lived a sheltered life in which he has always been handed the very best of everything, Red has devised a crash course in living comprised of 12 gifts that will challenge the arrogant young man in ways that he could never have imagined nor anticipated. Top 6- ENCHANTED

Every little girls dream is to be a princess and live happily ever with prince charming in the castle. If that is still your dream then you really should take some time and watch this film. I thought it was a very smart film because of the mix of the happily ever after world with the real world. The actress Amy Adams, was simply stunning and she was very real. Just like how a princess from another world would be.

Synopsis: Classic Disney animation meets contemporary urban chaos when a frightened princess is banished from her magical animated homeland to modern-day New York City in a romantic comedy penned by Bill Kelly (Blast from the Past), directed by Kevin Lima (Tarzan), and featuring music by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz. Princess Giselle (Amy Adams) lives in the blissful cartoon world of Andalasia, where magical beings frolic freely and musical interludes punctuate every interaction. Though Princess Giselle is currently engaged to be married to the handsome Prince Edward (James Marsden), her fate takes a turn for the worse when the villainous Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) banishes her to the unforgiving metropolis of New York City. As the cruelty of the big city soon begins to wear down the fairy-tale exterior of the once carefree princess, the frightened Giselle soon finds herself falling for a friendly but flawed divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey) whose kind compassion has helped her to survive in this strange and dangerous new world. Top 7- RATATOUILLE

A rat talking show, who would be interested? Well, I really enjoyed it and I thought it was worth watching in a cinema. Its about a rat who's very into cooking and stuff. Its also very real, in the sense that the rat can only communicate with his own kind but not with the humans and vice versa. BEWARE YOU WILL FEEL VERY HUNGRY WATCHING THIS SHOW, eventhough its animation based but it looks super real especially the food.

Synopsis: A rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the city of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unwanted visitor in the kitchen at one of Paris' most exclusive restaurants, Remy forms an unlikely partnership with Linguini, the garbage boy, who inadvertently discovers Remy's amazing talents. They strike a deal, ultimately setting into motion a hilarious and exciting chain of extraordinary events that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down. Remy finds himself torn between following his dreams or returning forever to his previous existence as a rat. He learns the truth about friendship, family and having no choice but to be who he really is, a rat who wants to be a chef. Click here to read more.

Top 8- FREEDOM WRITERS
Its a very touching movie about how a teacher is devoted to her student. About how she helped the students that nobody had faith in. She even lost her husband on the way and she had to take 2 other jobs besides teaching so she could buy her students brand new books to read. She allowed them to read stories like "Diary of Anne Frank" which they could relate to because of their lifestyle. At that time, there was war against the races so there was alot of killing and none of the races get along, they only hang out with their own kind. Very touching, and at a few parts you can't help but shed your tears. Its so amazing how much a teacher is willing to go through for her students. This is based on a TRUE STORY about a woman called Erin Gruwell who opened a centre called Freedom Writers.
Synopsis: Assigned the thankless task of teaching freshman English at a gang-infested Long Beach, Calif., high school, a 23-year-old teacher resorts to unconventional means of breaking through to her hardened students in director Richard LaGravenese's adaptation of Erin Gruwell's best-seller The Freedom Writer's Diaries: How a Teacher and 150 Teens Used Writing to Change Themselves and the World Around Them. Her students had been written off, and her chances of succeeding scoffed at, but Erin Gruwell (Hilary Swank) wasn't about to go down without a fight. In using the writings of Anne Frank and Zlata's Diary: A Child's Life in Sarajevo, Gruwell was able to teach her students not only the basis of the English language, but compassion and tolerance as well. Top 9- ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS

Only chipmunks who can talk are cute. HAHA i think most of you would agree with me. This movie is hillarious and guranteed alot of laughter along the way. If you are into music, singing chipmunks would be okay for you. They have wonderful voice well i mean style of singing. The chipmunks are on a whole new adventure with fame and family.

Synopsis: Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are back in director Tim Hill's computer-animation/live-action hybrid following the further adventures of the world's most adorable singing trio. Songwriter Dave Seville (Jason Lee) has been struggling to gain recognition in the music industry for some time, and despite the fact that his former college roommate (David Cross) is now a high-profile powerbroker at Jett Records, Dave still can't manage to get a break. Things soon start to look up, however, when Dave discovers three singing chipmunks hiding out in the branches of a Christmas tree in Jett Records' world headquarters. Realizing that these woodland crooners cold prove to be his ticket to the big time, Dave does his best to transform Alvin (Justin Long), Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler), and Theodore (Jesse McCartney) into the next great pop sensation. As adorable and talented as they may be though, these bouncy little critters aren't quite domesticated just yet; they still have a wild streak in them a mile wide, and it isn't long before Dave's life, home, and career are in utter chaos. But staying mad at such lovable little creatures is next to impossible, no matter what kind of mischief they might get into. Click here to read more.

Top 10- DISTURBIA

How would you feel if your neigbhbour was a serial killer. This movie is exciting and you never know whats going to happen next. It makes you aware of the film and your surrounding. This is one of my favourite thriller of the year.

Synopsis: Salton Sea director D.J. Caruso travels from the shore to the suburbs for this suspenseful tale of a high-school senior who suspects that his neighbor is a notorious serial killer. Kale (Shia LaBeouf) is a high-school senior who has yet to come to terms with the fact that his father is gone, the tragic victim of a fatal accident. As Kale's mother (Carrie-Anne Moss) struggles to pay the bills by picking up extra shifts at work, her son's behavior grows increasingly erratic. When an altercation at school finds Kale placed under court-ordered house arrest, the homebound student teams with newly arrived girl-next-door Ashley (Sarah Roemer) to investigate the suspicious neighbor (David Morse) whom Kale believes to be an elusive and wanted serial killer. Their attentions focused intensely on the man they believe to be a murderous maniac hiding in broad daylight, Kale and Ashley trespass down a dangerous path while attempting to discern whether his suspicions are grounded in fact or just a combination of deep depression and suffocating cabin fever.
